About our firm
History
KALEIDOSCOPE inc. was founded by President, Kathleen Trotter, in 1986. After a successful fifteen year career as a camp director, both on sites and in executive roles, Kathy understood the need to continually develop and apply expertise from a variety of professional areas - financial management, marketing, site development, architectural design.
The problem she experienced was that the professionals available to help in these areas knew their business but they didn't know the business of CAMPS and CENTERS. And without that understanding, the professional advice often did not lead to successful solutions. This was the foundation for KALEIDOSCOPE inc. - professional services FOR camps and centers BY professionals who know camps and centers.
The firm has grown and changed in its 20 year history to adapt to the needs of the field, and to remain efficient and up to date in its delivery of quality services at a reasonable cost. But its mission and vision remain the same.........
Mission
"To provide professional services to camps and resident centers to help them THRIVE!"
Yes, it is our goal to deliver our services "on time and within budget." But the plan is not really the outcome. YOUR camp or center, alive and well, benefiting from the investment in the consulting and planning process, is our purpose and goal.
Vision
"Whole people for a whole world."
Because of the holistic and experiential nature of camps and centers, we believe that the values taught and experienced in camps and centers are those needed for individuals to become healthy, mature participants in creating a sustainable world.
Values
These are the values upon which the company is built, and to which our associates pledge --
| Honesty | Say what you mean and mean what you say. |
| Integrity | Be who you say you are with all people at all times. Be true to your values even if they differ from others. |
| Quality | Give your best and seek to be the best in the field. Charge fair prices. Make sure your efforts produce value for the client. Base your efforts on their needs. |
| Caring | Listen to the needs behind the requests. Give yourself as well as your work. |
| Optimism | Impart interest, enthusiasm, excitement, hope. Make other's day better for having been a part of it. |
| Stewardship | Practice careful stewardship of all resources -- human, financial, natural. Be knowledgeable of environmental issues and solutions. |
| Commitment | Believe in -- and share -- the power of the work we do. |
Team Members
In the two decades that the KALEIDOSCOPE professionals have been offering services to camps and centers, the complexity of the industry has increased immensely. More regulations, financial challenges, competition and a changing social environment requires that staff and board members draw on a wide scope of knowledge and skills to do their job well.
KALEIDOSCOPE inc. is committed to providing true expertise, and does so by bringing together a team of people with qualifications to address each specific set of issues with competence. The team members are both employed and contracted. In all cases, they are associates who work with each other regularly, and therefore provide continuity from beginning to end on even the most complex of projects.

In the days of the browser wars between Netscape and Microsoft, many hacks were propagated by the competing companies.
